NatureUp Health
A personal nature-therapy
guide in your pocket
Our AI guide works with you to find the perfect location and then guides you on a custom nature experience, in a park, on a sidewalk or even in your backyard.
Modern life has severed our connection to nature — and we're paying for it. Nature deprivation is linked to lower life satisfaction, higher stress, and poorer mental health. The results: chronic illness, a debilitating mental health crisis, and staggering costs to society.
Our app connects you to nature, a powerful, freely available health intervention — in a guided, personalized, measured way. and a learning reinforced way; backed by the latest science. Learning reinforced and backed by the latest science.

Peter Mayfield and Greg Bernstein share a 30-year collaboration rooted in a single conviction: nature heals.
Their partnership began in 1990 when Peter founded CityRock, the world's first full-service indoor climbing gym, and joined forces with Bandaloop to pioneer vertical dance performances in nature. Greg shared this awe-inspiring work with audiences worldwide through Emmy Award-winning videography.
Peter founded Gateway Mountain Center in 2006. Since then, they have continued to develop, deliver, and refine nature-based programs – now through NatureUp Health – extending work that has served more than 25,000 people. Together, they established and delivered California's first and only nature-based therapeutic mentoring program to secure County Behavioral Health contracts and Medicaid reimbursement.

Founder & CEO
Peter Mayfield is a long-term social entrepreneur deeply passionate about the transformative benefits people experience through a profound connection with nature. He has journeyed from two decades as a world-class rock climber and guide (1978–1998) to founding CityRock, the world's first full-service climbing gym. In 2006, he founded Gateway Mountain Center, serving more than 30,000 youth through nature-based programs — including the first nature-based therapeutic mentoring program in the U.S. to secure County Behavioral Health contracts and Medicaid reimbursement. Today, Peter channels his decades of experience into NatureUP Health, advancing proven nature-based methods to improve health and wellbeing at scale.
